Restoration

At the Little Boat Shop we have our hands full this year with a number of restorations.

29' Catboat "Frolic"

The Frolic is 29' and one of only a few remaining keeled catboats built by the Crosby Yard. Additional information can be found on www.capecodcatboats.com or on catboatsarah .com
Our 29' Catboat "Frolic" will most likely prove to be the most challenging. She will need a new stem, keel, horn timber, sternpost and transom. The planking will be replaced to the turn of the bilge and the sheerstrake is Rotted. She is one of only nine that were built by the Crosby Yard and 'Frolic" was built in 1925. As a keeled catboat she has no centerboard so the inside of the cabin is really spacious. I jokingly say you could put a pool table down below.

We have all the original hardware and the boat was give to me by Richard Eagan, owner of Crosby Yachts. We will keep you posted of or progress as the boat will have to be moved to our new shop from its current location.

Wianno Senior

We recently acquired a Wianno Sr. Hull #74 in need of full restoration. Unfortunately many of these beautiful boats were lost in the tragic fire last year at the Crosby Yard. She will be fully restored and be a beauty. Please contact me if you have interest in her.

MIT Tech Dinghy

This is a rare boat. One of the original 40 commissioned by MIT to be built by the Herreshoff Company in 1934. She is scheduled for complete restoration this year and is available for sale. Please feel free to call me if you would like additional information on this wonderful boat.

YOUR BOAT

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are the owner of a classic wooden boat in need of restoration or just some needed repairs. We offer a mobile service when necessary but ideally if the boat requires extensive work it is more economical to have the boat brought to us. If the boat is close by the estimate is of no charge to the owner. A modest fee is charged to provide an estimate to boats that are more than an hour away from our shop. Pictures are helpful in determining if your boat is realistically restorable. Feel free to forward them to me.
