Yankee Tender
Yankee Tender - 12'4" | Beam 4' 4"

The "Yankee Tender" is an elegant and wonderful rowing boat. She was originally designed by Asa Thompson who was a noted boat builder from New Bedford in the 1800's. He built these boats for the fisherman of the day who used to row out to fish with handlines. Because of her beautiful lines the yachtsmen of means had him build this boat as a tender to their yachts.

She is built traditionally with cedar but we to recommend a 12mm plywood bottom. She was redesigned by some of the staff at WoodenBoat Magazine and was extended a foot and another strake was added along with a bit more rocker which makes her row easily. This is not a hard boat to build but it will take you some time. She can be clinched nailed or glued at the plank laps. Each plank has to be spiled and beveled. There are 24 interior frames that all have to be individually scribed in and installed. This boat will take you three weeks to build with me. When completed I know you will have found the effort well worth it.

Tuition for the Yankee Tender: $5,500

Garboard installed and planking is started.

This Yankee Tender has a home in Marion Harbor.
